At Luche, on 5 August, the best-loved country feast: the novena, pilgrims from all over the Goceano, the dressing of the Madonna and the procession to the sanctuary.
In the countryside of Illorai, at Luche, stand three churches dedicated to the Madonna della Neve: the modern sanctuary, consecrated in 1978, keeps the ancient statue of the Virgin.
The feast of 5 August closes the novena that draws pilgrims from all over the Goceano and the Nuoro area. On the eve the rite of the dressing is renewed: the women of the village dress the statue in the finely embroidered cream-white Sardinian costume, and so dressed the Madonna goes out in procession among the faithful.
Around the sanctuary, in the cumbessias, families live the days of the long feast: prayer, shared meals, songs and evenings together. It is the feast of the summer, the one that brings back to Illorai even those who live farthest away.
